15 August 2011-Music Reflection

Today we reviewed the scales, both the sharp and flats that we learnt the pass week. We then were tested by being called to the front and asked to make the scales and triads. Each one of us has to answer on question. I was asked to make the triad, after that, we were given a piece of paper of the criteria graded and what we will be doing each week. In the theory class, our homework was to make the triads (1, 3,5, 7)of the G, D, A, E, B, F#, and E# major scale, the first and second movements. But since it was easy, I did it in class. In practical class, since Hae Rin moved school, Niko moved class and Joshua moved to drama, there was only me and Shavira in the woodwind class So in the instrument class, I practice the svales and the 3 other highest notes I haven't learnt about before. Then since I wasn't given a new song to learn from Mr. Hary, I practiced again the song I've played for weeks And Shavira didn't bring her instrument, so it was only me who was practicing. For the next session in instrument class, I am going to practice another song, and the new scales . At home, I will practice the long note of the 3 octave scale.

11 August 2011-Music Reflection

Today in music class, we presented our power point presentation with our group. Ronaldo, Verena, and Tathia's group was the first to present, and then Blanka, Bryan, and Heidy's group was the second group to present their power point presentation, and my group, along with Joshua, Yohanes and, Vincent, was the third group to present, followed by Hashfi, Steven, and Shavira's group. We presented a power point presentation on the Baroque, Classic, Romantic, and Modern Classic era, along with the famous composers of each era and our favorite composer of each era. My job was on the Romantic Era, I chose this Era because I enjoy their compositions of their feelings, and my favorite composer of the Romantic Era is Tchaikovsky. Then we went to music class, there, since we don't have a lot of time, I only had the chance to practice 1 scale, and the song from last week. We were not given any homework, so there is nothing to do and/or prepare for next week.

8 August 2011-Music Reflection

Today after going through the absent list, because a lot of students dropped music class, we were divided into 4 groups. I was one group with 3 other guys; Joshua, Vincent, Yohanes. We then discussed about the composers and also about the characteristic of each era. I chose romantic music because I love romantic songs rather tan any other genre. I find it interesting. And for the romantic era, the greatest composer is Tchaikovsky. i love his compositions, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, almost all of them. And then we present our work; what we did in the given time in front of the class. When we wanted to go to our instrument class, turns out there are still 2 students who haven't gotten the chance to sing last week. So to make up for lost times, they sang on our instrument class period, hence, no instrument class. After they sang, the time was only enough to make our reflections, and so we did. For next session, I will do a presentation with my group of what we did today. So I will do more research and our group will make the presentation on Wednesday after school.

4 August 2011-Music Reflection

Today, we have to sing a modern song for our assessment. I'm the third in line to sing and I chose to sing Home by Michael Buble. I thought that no one else would sing that song but turns out that Mahendra decided to sing that song last minute too. So when we came into class, we first fill in the booklet. About the song, what does the song means and how you relate to the song, why you chose that song. After that, since Mahendra sang the same song, I decided to use his laptop for the minus -1, instead of having Mr. Harry as my accompaniment. I think that my singing wasn't the worse even though it is good. But nevertheless, I'm proud of myself that I had the confidence to sing in front of the whole class. After I sang, I filled in the rest of the booklet. Then other people sang. But 2 didn't got the chance the sing because of the time. We didn't have our instrument class or any homework.

1 August 2011-Music Reflection

Today we learnt about the sharps, flats, and also intervals. We learnt until 7 sharp majors, 7 flats majors, and the intervals and the lower petrachord and upper petrachord. If how the lower petrachord is moved above the upper petrachord it becomes a sharp major scale, and if we do the opposite it becomes a flat major scale. After we learnt about that we went to our instrument class. In the instrument class we do what we usually do, practice our scales and the song. And I also discussed about the song that I will be singing next session. And I also practice my singing. For next week I wil start practicing more often for the singing assessment.

28 July 2011-Music Reflection

Today, we were told of what we will be doing for the next few weeks and the assessments we will have to do. Our first assessment is singing. We have to sing a modern pop song in front of the whole class by next-next Thursday, solo. And our next assessment is doing a presentation on a composer. But we haven't discussed much on that. In the instrument class we started off with a simple scale, F major and G major, then with two tongues and so until four tonguing. And then Mr. Harry played for us a song that I will have to play, so after he gave me an idea of how the song sounds, I played this sight reading song and he asked me to perfect it by next week and I have to memorize it. So that is what I will be doing at home. Until I can play this with no mistakes, he won't give me a new song to play.

25 July 2011-Music Reflection

Today is the first meeting of Grade 9's music class. Since there is a new student joining us, we were briefed through the system again. Through how the class works, the criteria that will be assessed, the things we need to bring to class and so on. Also about the reflection and the blog. And a new type of reflection a Vlog, in where we have to record ourself practicing our instrument for 2 minutes or so, and then post it up on our music blog. In our instrument class, since only Hae Rin brought her instrument, she was asked to play a song while the rest of us listened. We then discussed about the new kid's instrument. And then we also discussed on what we will be learning for the next few weeks in instrument class. We don't have any homework so I won't do anything at home.
